Responsible Gaming

What is Responsible Gaming?

At ComeOn!, we want to encourage a culture of positive play where gambling is something fun and happens within each player’s personal limits. Here are a few tips for playing responsibly:

  • Set a personal budget and make sure you stick to it.
  • Only play for the fun of it, not to make money.
  • Only gamble when sober and in a clear state of mind.
  • Make sure you take regular breaks.
  • How does gambling make you feel? If the fun is overshadowed by negative emotions, it may be time to take a break or to start using the tools and support services we offer.

Our expertise

All our customer service agents are trained in the area of addiction prevention in order to be able to assist customers in the most effective way possible. You can reach out to them 24/7 via phone +31 (0) 800 4433333, live chat or email.

Our tools

We offer a number of tools to help you plan and control your gambling. Setting a deposit limit, session limit and balance limit is mandatory in the Netherlands.

Keeping track of how much you play for is something we recommend to all our players. You can easily do so by referring to your transaction history on your account. Additionally, we will provide you with continuous feedback on your gambling behaviour to keep you alert to any changes. If you should worry that your gambling is moving in a more problematic direction, we are there to point you towards the tools and support needed to make the necessary changes. You can find everything you need directly on the site, but you might also be contacted by one of our members of staff, either by email or by phone. Alternatively, you can reach out to us yourself by contacting our customer support who are always happy to help.

DEPOSIT LIMIT

Deposit limits are helpful to make sure you stick to your gambling budget. All players must set a deposit limit before they start playing. This limit regulates the sum you can deposit on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis; if you choose to set more than one, the most restrictive limit applies. It is very important that the limits you choose reflect the amounts that you intend to play for. You can adjust your set limit at any time from your account. If you make your limit more restrictive, that limit is effective immediately whereas if the limit is made less restrictive, then a cool-off period of 7 days applies. It is not allowed to completely remove the limit.

TIME LIMIT

Time limits help you limit the duration which you will be able to access your account on a

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly

basis. When it's the first time you set the limit or you decrease your existing time limit, your limit will take effect immediately. If you increase or remove your limit, it will take 7 days for your changes to take effect. You must select at least one of the available time periods. You can adjust your set limit at any time from your account.

MAXIMUM ACCOUNT BALANCE

When your account balance reaches the maximum limit you have set to your player account, you will be prompted to make a withdrawal to your bank account. Once your limit has been exceeded, new deposits and game play will no longer be accepted until a withdrawal that puts your balance back below your limit amount has been requested. When adjusting your limit to a stricter limit it goes into immediate effect and when adjusting to a less strict limit it will take effect after 7 days of your adjustment. It is not allowed to completely remove the maximum balance limit.

LOSS LIMIT

A loss limit is something ComeOn! offers as an additional option to control your gambling budget with us. By setting a loss limit you will control how much you can bet and lose during the timeframe you choose. Should you be lucky and win, it won’t count towards the amount you can bet, but as soon as you reach your limit in terms of losses, you won’t be able to continue until the next time period starts. This is a great safety net to keep you from accidentally overspending. Should you want to adjust your limit, you can easily do so on your account. Remember that any increase or removal of a limit will have a cooling off period of 7 days before coming to effect.

SELF TEST

Answering a few questions in this simple self test can help you reflect on your own gambling, and assess whether your current gambling habits point at a risk of developing a gambling problem. Based on research about the common signs of at-risk gambling, the tool will highlight any behaviours of concern that you might benefit from making a change to.

Do you need to cool off?

If you want to take a break from gambling, we offer the option of suspending your account for the time you need, giving you some time to cool off and reflect on your gambling situation. You can set the cool-down period yourself in your account under 'Self exclusion'. The time periods that we offer are 1 day, 1 week, 1 month. Should you wish to close your account for another time period you can always contact our customer support who will be happy to help you with this request. Please note that once the period you select has expired, the block will be automatically terminated and your account will be available for use again. You will not receive any notification about this.

SELF-EXCLUSION VIA CRUKS

Use CRUKS (National Central Register of Exclusions) to take a break from gambling for a timeframe you want between 6 months to 99 years. When you sign up, you will not be able to gamble on any Dutch gambling sites, in Dutch gaming halls or casinos for at least 6 months. For more information or to register via CRUKS.

How do I know if I have a Gambling Problem?

Determining whether your gambling is in the safe zone or not isn’t always easy. However, there are a few common warning signs that you should be aware of:

  • Do you ever play for more than you intend to?
  • Does your gambling impact your work or social life?
  • Have you tried to cut down or stop without success?
  • Have you ever lied or hidden signs of your gambling to family or friends?
  • Do you think a big win is the answer to your problems? If you want help determining the impact gambling has on your everyday life, you can take a self-assessment test such as this one: www.loketkansspel.nl/test-jezelf

Kindly note that there are a number of intervention measures that we may take when we notice changes to your gambling patterns and/or signs of irresponsible gambling. To this effect, ComeOn may engage with you either via email or via phone in order to ensure that you are in control of your gambling and to guide you on how you can gamble more responsibly. Where necessary, and as a last resort, ComeOn may itself impose restrictions on your account to prevent harm caused by unhealthy gambling behaviour.

When your gambling has become a problem

The first thing to do when you notice that gambling has become a problem is to take the necessary steps to make sure you restrict all access to gambling. You can self-exclude via CRUKS or by contacting our customer support team. When you self-exclude you can feel safe in knowing that you won’t be able to log in and play again in a moment of weakness. You will also be protected from receiving direct marketing during your period of self-exclusion.

For additional protection, there are also software products such as Betfilter and Gamban that block access to gambling sites from your computer and any other device you might have.

Independent Organisations

Gambling problems and the consequences that sometimes come with them can be difficult to handle on your own. That is why we recommend turning to an organisation that specialises in helping people with gambling-related issues to get the support needed in such situations. There are several who offer free and confidential help.

GAMBLING AND UNDERAGE

It is not allowed by law in the Netherlands to participate in gambling if you are not yet 18 years old. For this reason, ComeOn.nl has a strict registration policy and you must always identify yourself when you register to prove that you are at least 18 years old. Research has shown that players between the ages of 18 and 24 are more vulnerable and more likely to play impulsively.

Do you share a computer with children? Always remember to keep your account information and passwords secret. There is free software you can download that will help protect your children from online gambling, two well recognised options include Net Nanny and CYBERsitter. Our customer support team is always happy to answer any questions you may have about safety and the use of our site.

ACKNOWLEDGING GAME RISKS

A number of criteria are taken into account in order to determine the risk of developing a gambling addiction associated with each category of games. These criteria include frequency, interval payback, and jackpots.

From our assessment of games, pre-match sports betting was found to be low-risk, whereas slots, table games and live-sports-betting were found to have risks ranging from high to highest. This assessment not only helps you identify which games cause most harm but also puts a responsibility on us to ensure that our marketing and advertising take into consideration such risks. The risk level attributed to the games are based on theoretical basis and do not necessarily lead to gambling addiction. Notwithstanding, we encourage you to make use of our tools to help you keep gambling with us for a fun, leisure-time experience.

Are you worried about a family member or friend?

Consequences of excessive gambling do not only affect the player, but can also have an impact on family and friends. As an affected other, it can be reassuring to know that there is support for both you and your loved one. If you are worried about a relative or a friend, we recommend that you reach out to one of the support organisations available. Please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team who will help guide you in the right direction.
